Are electrical equipment centers water proof?
Yes, by definition equipment centers are NEMA 3R enclosures that provide a degree of protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, and snow, and will be undamaged by the external formation of ice on the enclosure. Lectrus offers UL certification that our structures meet the requirements of the UL50-3R and the IEEE C37.20.2 rain tests.

Is an electrical equipment center classified as a building or equipment?
Most experts agree that these NEMA 3R walk--in enclosures are considered equipment. It is standard practice to consider and classify the enclosure as the “equipment” which it encloses. For example, an outdoor electrical panel is not considered a panel plus an enclosure nor is an outdoor transformer considered a transformer plus an enclosure. They are referred to as a panel or a transformer, respectively. Due to the large size of the electrical equipment being enclosed and, consequently, the large size of the electrical equipment center, these are sometimes confused with modular buildings.
